The Last of the Snow
When I was a lot younger, snow was a big deal. Since we lived in the desert, many people who had lived all their lives in the Salt River Valley had never "seen" snow. So we would travel many miles to the north on "snow trips" just so those who had never seen snow could experience it for a while. Sometimes our expectations exceeded our actual experience. We would arrive in the mountains, only to find that the snow had evaporated. In the desert mountains, it doesn't melt so much as it evaporates. See small patches of snow did not give one the same experience as standing in a Midwestern blizzard.
