At first glance, it is hard to determine whether this photo is upside down or not. Guess what? When you are standing there, you can see the same thing. It is often hard to resolve the rocks and water and sky into their individual components. One time while kayaking on a lake, the reflections were so real, we felt disoriented, like we were floating through the air. At this point, Marble Canyon, in the picture above, is about 800 feet wide and 400 feet deep. By the time Marble Canyon merges with the Grand Canyon, it is 4,000 feet deep and two miles wide.
