Orchids

One of the benefits of traveling (if there are any) is that we get to visit surprising places that were previously unknown to us. We do not travel with an agenda. We decide the next stop when we are done with each stop. In this case, we decided to visit the Buffalo Botanical Gardens in Buffalo, New York. The Gardens are based upon the famous Crystal Palace in Kew Gardens Palm House in England. It was an extraordinary experience and I will be sharing some of the highlights as I put up photos.

Orchidaceae
has about 28,000 currently accepted species distributed in 763 genera. Orchids comprise about 6% to 11% of all seed plants on the earth. There are now more than 100,000 hybrids and cultivars so you can imagine the variety.
