If there is one object that is most commonly associated with early American history, it is the spinning wheel. I am guessing that there are not many people left in the United States that even know the use of this device. Spinning wheels were first used almost 3000 years ago and it wasn't until the late 1800s that they were replaced by the loss of the home industry of spinning and weaving.
