I never understood oxen. It took me years until I finally figured out that there is no such animal as an ox, strictly speaking. An ox is a trained cow. When people talked about their ox it is really nothing more than
a mature castrated bull, but the animal was sometimes the same as their milk cow.
Here comes the oxcart, oh, how slow!
It’s pulled by an ox, of course, you know.
The wooden wheels creak as they roll along.
Creak, creak, creak, creak is their song.
