This picture is purely for fun. No artistic merit whatsoever. The Tunnel Log at Sequoia National Park is one of those places you used to see on post cards. (Post cards? What are post cards?) I couldn't resist staging our Prius driving through the log.
It's amazing that this fallen log has lasted so long. Is any of it still alive? Still partly rooted? Or is this wood just super tough?
ReplyDeleteSequoia wood is extremely resistant to rot and will last for hundreds of years. This tree is definitely dead.
ReplyDeleteOK, I couldn't resist: "What are post cards?" Post cards are artifacts of a bygone era that genealogists love to collect.
ReplyDeleteMore seriously, I do see them in racks at convenience stores. Unfortunately they are usually generic scenes, NOT the good photography you give us, and that were often on the front of postcards of the past.
