Some images that come from scavenging with the camera are just strange. Can you tell what this image is? Yes, I do know what it is. If it is any help, it was taken on the shore of the Great Salt Lake in Utah.
Does the sand here have a large silt component? I've noticed the sand near Zion National Park seems to be partly composed f silt/clay. I'm assuming there would be evaporites too (near the Salt Lake).
Was a boat resting there at some point?
ReplyDeleteThis is a naturally formed sand bar and actually quite small only a foot or so across.

ReplyDeleteThe sand is not really silicate sand at all, it is called oolitic sand and is composed of almost microscopic spherical grains of calcium carbonate.
