The Apache Trail

This photo will give you a little bit of an idea of the famous Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam. This dirt road was built during the construction of the dam to carry freight and materials for the dam construction. It is maintained in its nearly original dirt road state on purpose. It is passible in a regular car if you don't mind bouncing all over with the ruts and washboard and if you don't mind a one-lane road up steep cliffs with huge drop-offs. In our family we have differing opinions about driving this road.
