Lantana

Lantana is a weed disguised as an ornamental plant. It is commonly used as a landscape plant in the low desert. Although it has a tendency to freeze in the winter, it invariably grows back in warmer weather.  We tolerate it because it has cheerful red, yellow or purple blossoms most of the year. It can grow as large as a tree and so if you want to see your house, you have to keep chopping it down. It also smells awful when crushed or bruised. Hmm. All in all, it is tolerable.
