White Canyon, Utah

White Canyon in south central Utah, is known for its natural bridges, Indian ruins and slot canyons. It is a maze of narrow channels ultimately emptying into the Colorado River. Part of the Canyon is located in Bridges National Monument. Wandering around Utah, you can find more places like this than you can visit in a lifetime. I know, I have spent mine mostly in Arizona and Utah going to places like this.

  1. James, what is the mix of layers exposed here? I think I see some cross-bedding in the lower left corner. I love the wonderful mix of "recipes" you find in Utah and Northern Arizona.

    1. Here is a link to a geologic map of the area. http://geology.utah.gov/online/mp/mp08-3.pdf as you can see the bedding is quite complex.
